Ticks are small parasites that attach to pets and feed on their blood. These parasites can carry diseases that affect both pets and humans, making prevention extremely important for pet owners. Regular checks and preventive care help reduce the risk of tick-borne illnesses.

Why Ticks Are Dangerous

Ticks can transmit diseases such as Lyme disease and other infections. Pets that spend time outdoors in grassy, wooded, or park areas are especially at risk. In addition, pets can carry ticks into the home, where they may also affect people.

How to Protect Your Pet

  • Use veterinarian-recommended tick preventatives.

  • Check your pet daily after outdoor walks or playtime.

  • Keep your yard clean and trimmed to reduce tick habitats.

  • Remove ticks quickly if you find one on your pet

Signs Your Pet May Have a Tick Bite

Some pets may not show symptoms immediately, but possible signs include:

  • Lethargy or unusual tiredness

  • Loss of appetite

  • Fever or discomfort

If you notice any unusual symptoms after a tick bite, contact your veterinarian.
